Best performance in the round robin test for the determination of MOAH with 1-2 rings (MDAF) and MOAH with 3-7 rings (TPAF)

As part of our quality control and method validation, we regularly participate in various laboratory comparisons and proficiency tests. In Q2/2024, the renowned interlaboratory test organiser proof-ACS, which is accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17043, carried out a test (P2405-MRT) for the quantification and characterisation of MOAH using GCxGC-FID. The focus was on the determination of MOAH according to the number of aromatic rings with the differentiation of mono- and di-aromatics (MDAF) as well as the tri- and polyaromatics fraction (TPAF). In addition, the determination of the total MOSH and MOAH was requested using HPLC-GC-FID. Contaminated coconut oil was used as the test matrix.

Laboratory Lommatzsch & Säger was the only one of nine participants who was able to fulfil the trueness criteria for all test parameters and thus successfully pass the round robin test. In particular, the reliable determination of the TPAF fraction (3 - 7 ring MOAH), which is relevant from a toxicological point of view, was achieved based on our many years of experience in GCxGC analysis.
